This 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir speaks of this classic growing region while being bold and powerful, yet elegant and nuanced. This rich red wine has the expected strength and deep purple fruit characterized by this lush valley, and there is a refinement, a thread of perfumed spice woven into the bouquet. This wine has a color reminiscent of the black-skinned Santa Rosa Plums native to this region. The breadth and attack is balanced by the plush fruit and the tactile acidity on the palate. There are elements of sassafras, dark caramel, and cinnamon overlaid on a base of juicy raspberry, sweet pine syrup, and wet, humus-rich soil.
